The power of place
When the concept of the McLean Centre was being developed, one idea was clear: DeGroote students needed a dedicated place for themselves, where they could connect, collaborate and build community on McMaster University’s main campus.
Through a generational gift from Paul McLean (MBA ’81) and his family, that vision became a reality with the construction of a new, purpose-built home for DeGroote students.
Designed with spaces where students can study, gather and connect with the DeGroote community, the McLean Centre provides a home for current and future generations of DeGroote students.
Auditorium
A tiered-style classroom with a capacity of 240 students, it will be a modern, state-of-the-art learning facility with a wall of digital screens.
BMO Connection Zone
An open space and atrium for students to encourage unstructured connections with other students, faculty and industry and community partners.
Digital Learning Studio
This space will include a wide range of multi-media tools for students to access.
Digital Classrooms
The Douglas Classroom and Feather Family Classroom are active learning spaces that will be outfitted with multi-media and collaboration technology.
Events on 10
An event space on the tenth floor that will offer panoramic views over campus and Cootes Paradise.
Partner Engagement Hub
A multi-purpose space to host industry/community partner events.
DeGroote Graduate Research Cluster and R.J. Welke PhD Studies Lounge
This space will provide workstations, collaboration rooms, café and a lounge space for PhD students.
Rapid Prototyping Lab
The Rapid Prototyping Lab gives students access to the tools they need to turn ideas into tangible prototypes. It supports hands-on experimentation, helping learners test and refine their solutions in a practical, creative environment.
Student Leadership Suite and KPMG Student Lounge
Collaborative working spaces for DeGroote student clubs.
